DELTA – Ahead of the coming 2027 governorship election in Delta State, concerned stalwart members of the ruling party in the State, PDP, have called on the incumbent governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as a matter of urgent to intervene in the legal battle between the Ughelli North council boss and his Special Assistant on community development, Evang. Nicholas Evwienure.

The PDP concerned members made the clarion call yesterday in Ughelli, the administrative headquarters of the Ughelli North council area, in a press statement signed by its chairman and secretary, respectively.

While granting our correspondent audience, the chairman of the group, Comrade Godspower Esivweneta, expressed fears and dissatisfaction with the recent development between the Delta State government, Ughelli North Council boss, Hon. Jaro Egbo, and others resulting in court action.

While expressing dissatisfaction, Esivweneta said if the matter is not nipped in the bud, it will cause a crack in PDP at the LGA and state level before the 2027 general elections in the state.

“We are calling on the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, leaders and elders of PDP in the state to set up a panel of inquiry to unravel the immediate remote causes of the unrest between the governor’s SA on community development, Evang. Nicholas Evwienure, the state government, Ughelli North council boss, and three others have dragged the state and the governor to court.

“We, and every right-thinking member of the society, will agree with us that if the matter is not urgently addressed, it will affect the future election of the party in the state.

“We viewed the purported eviction of the former chairmanship aspirant for Ughelli North in the last council election on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Evang. Nicholas Evwienure’s from Block 6 Ughelli/Ogor government housing estate was an action taken too far and had a political undertone to undermine and witch hurt his political career.

“For the interest of the party, we strongly advised the state governor to quickly intervene in the matter before it degenerated into total crisis in the party at the council level and the state at large”.
It would be recalled that the PDP chairman aspirant for Ughelli North, Nichola Evwienure has recently dragged Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Delta State government, Ughelli North council boss, Jaro Egbo, and three others before Delta State High Court of Justice Ughelli Judiciary division over perceived illegal eviction from Block 6 Ughelli/Ogor government estate.
