The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) have begun a three-day assessment of Nigeria’s readiness for the 2027 Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Mutual Evaluation Exercise.
The exercise began on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, with officials reviewing the country’s preparations against money laundering and terrorist financing.
The assessment is expected to examine Nigeria’s efforts in strengthening financial intelligence and combating financial crimes. The exercise will continue through September 30 and October 2.
The development is part of efforts by Nigerian authorities to improve the country’s financial crime prevention systems ahead of the international evaluation.
