Empowerment: Delta Councillor Empowers 240 APC New Entrants With N50,000 Each, Commends Tinubu, Oborevwori
By Matthias Ogbagah
The Councillor representing Jeremiah Ward 13 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Oghenekparobo Sisaye, has empowered 240 APC members with N50,000.00 each to ameliorate the hardship occasioned by fuel subsidy removal.
According to him, the empowerment aligns with the state government’s renewed hope M.O.R.E agenda to bring succour to the less privileged and strengthen the party by being the dividend of democracy to all Deltans.
He said some time ago the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori invited all the twenty-five council chairmen and gave them twenty million naira (N20,000,000) each to empower two hundred (200) persons in their constituencies to mitigate the effect of the hardship in the country.
“In my capacity and as a Councillor, I compliment the good gesture of the state government by adding forty persons, given a total of 240 persons to benefit from the empowerment.
“My special thanks go to the President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for coming to the aid of the less privileged in the society and for strengthening APC at all levels ahead of the 2027 general elections”.
Speaking to journalists while receiving two hundred persons who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a chieftain of APC in Delta State, Chief Patrick Fovie described the empowerment as a wonderful success, saying he has not seen empowerment of this nature anywhere before.
“It is a wonderful success; I have not seen something like this anywhere around before. Because the empowerment is not a matter of go, come, look me, I look you. The money is given to all of them, two hundred of them, fifty thousand naira cash, not transfer. So there is no question of, oh, I did not receive my money; it’s not there.
“What we are doing now is a campaign; already, long before the election, we have empowered our people, we know them, they know us. So, when the election comes, the issue of vote buying will not arise. We have empowered them; they know us, we know them, and they are going to vote for it”.
Doctor Fovie advised the beneficiaries to be people of good character. There should be no supervision over them.
They should observe their conscience, whether what they are doing is right or wrong.
Also speaking, Mr Kelvin Oghenevwarhe Fovie described the empowerment as a massive one. He commended President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s reform agenda, assuring that more good things are coming.
“With this massive empowerment, we know we will win the ward for our party, APC. We need to take the people to a place where they will understand that politics is not a day business. It takes a period of time to build a home.
So we want to bring our people back home with patience and to emphasise to them the agenda of Mr President and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The councillor meant well for them, and he has represented them very well, as you can see. He assured the defectors of equal treatment and benefits of dividends of democracy.
He urged all other political party members to collapse their structures for President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Meanwhile, the Executive Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Student Affairs, Doctor Okwu Ezekiel Oghenetega, described the empowerment as extraordinary. He thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the opportunity opened to all intendents with his M.O.R.E. agenda.
APC has won the 2027 general elections already, but we just need a little work. It is not over until it is over. That is why we are doing more work, because the agenda we are operating on is the M.O.R.E. agenda.
