“I’m a People’s Politician, Not Like Normal Politicians, Says I’m Loyal To The People, Not the Party” – Obas

AGBARHA-OTOR – The House of Representatives candidate for Ughelli North, South and Udu federal constituency on the platform of the National Democratic Congress NDC in the party’s last primary election, Comrade Johnny Obakpororo, fondly called “Obas”, has said that he is a people’s politician, not like normal politicians around us.
Obakpororo made the statement at Agbarha-otor in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State when he paid a “Thank You Visit” to the king of the ancient kingdom of Agbarha-otor and his teeming supporters in the kingdom.
Speaking to newsmen at the palace of Agbarha-otor kingdom, he stated that the way he sees politics is different to others, saying, “He is a people’s politician, not like normal politicians we see around us, adding that his allergies is to the people that make up the political party, not the party.
Speaking on the just concluded NDC’s primaries, he assured that the primary has come and gone; our focus is to galvanise and sensitise our people on how to choose the right people to lead them.
His words: “Looking at the three local government areas made up of Ughelli North, South and Udu federal constituency, it seems they are not existing in the politics of the state and even the national. The voices of the three local government areas are not heard because nobody speaks for them. We must put a stop to it; enough is enough.
“The problem of the country is that people choose to be loyal to the political parties rather than to be loyal to the people. I’m loyal to the people, not to the party first”, he stated.
“You see, we have a problem in this country: the problem of being loyal to the party instead of being loyal to the people. I am loyal to the people, not loyal to the party; that is why I put myself forward to represent them. It’s not a party thing; it’s about the people”.
According to him, after his party’s primary election, his leaders both at the local government level and state prevailed on him to step aside, and for the respect he has for the leaders, elders, and stakeholders of his party, he yielded to their advice.
Speaking at Agbarha-otor Town Hall, he commended the doggedness and support of his supporters in Agbarha-otor, assuring them of better days ahead to represent them.
Reacting to the former HoR candidate’s “Thank You Visit “, Oghene Ochuko said the visit came as a surprise to them (supporters) because they did not expect him to come back to say thank you, many people even when they have won the election they will not come back to say thank you to us but he came back to appreciate us he’s a good man he’s a kind man he even donated some cash to us which we did not also expect, he gave us gift there where food and drinks and water and it got to each and everyone of us we are very grateful to him and we pray God to grant him the grace rule us.
Also speaking, the immediate past President General of Samagidi-Agbarha-Otor community, Comrade Emmanuel Odoko, described Comrade Johnny Obakpororo as the ‘People’s General’ who has used his good office to bring succour to the lives of many in the council area and beyond.
