*As Deltans commend CP Erale’s pragmatic approach to fight crime, score Operatives high

ASABA – Refused to be deterred by the activities of some criminals hiding in the canopy of power, the operatives of the Delta State Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team CP-SAT, led by its Commander, ASP Robinson Julius, on October 7, 2026, at about 2230hrs arrested a 26-year-old suspected armed robber in Asaba and recovered three firearms and ammunition during an intelligence-led operation.

Giving a vivid account of the concerted efforts of the operatives of the CP-SAT, the Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed in a press release that on October 7, 2026, at about 2230hrs, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), Ughelli, acting on credible intelligence in collaboration with local vigilantes, arrested Sunday Nimel (26), a suspected member of an armed robbery syndicate allegedly responsible for several residential armed robbery operations in Asaba and its environs.
According to the release made available to newsmen in Delta State, during interrogation of the suspects, the suspect made useful statements that led operatives to a hideout near Okpanam City Gate, where one (1) AK-47 rifle, three (3) rounds of live ammunition and two (2) locally made cut-to-size guns were recovered. Investigation is ongoing.
It would be recalled that in 2024, the then Commissioner of Police, Delta State, deployed the Special Assignment Team of the Commissioner of Police to Ughelli when the Ughelli to Port Harcourt road, Ughelli/Warri/Sapele/Ologbo roads were no-go areas as criminals took over the areas.
Deltans began to sleep with their two eyes closed and wake to go about their daily activities without fear, as the Operatives of the CP-SAT made the state too acidic for criminals to stay.
The joy of Deltans was abruptly dampened as the team’s zeal and operative spirit came under attack and were caged by the power that be.
In recent times, encomium and kudos have begun to trail the new Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, psc, mnips, for his pragmatic approach to restore the once-lost confidence of Deltans in Delta polices.
While commending the CP-SAT operatives, Chief Thomas Okpubido expressed confidence in the Delta State Commissioner of Police’s fight against crime in the state.
Meanwhile, CP Samuel E. Erale commended the operatives for the successful operation and reiterated the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and the dismantling of criminal networks across the State. He urged residents to continue supporting the Police with credible information, assuring that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property.
