Delta CP-SAT Recovers AK-47 Rifle, Two AK-47 Magazines, Pump-Action Gun, 55 Rounds of Live Ammunition, 7 Live Cartridges From Kidnappers

UGHELLI – The operatives of the Delta State Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by its Commander, ASP Robinson Julius, on October 4, 2026, at about 21:00hrs, acting on credible intelligence on the activities of suspected kidnappers/armed robbers, stormed their hideout in a bush around Uduere Community in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
According to a press release by the police command image maker, SP Bright Edafe, the suspects, on sighting the operatives, opened fire on them, leading to an exchange of gunfire, and the suspects bowed to the superior firepower of the operatives and fled the scene.
According to the press release, a search of the hideout led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 magazines, fifty-five rounds of live ammunition, one pump-action gun, seven live cartridges, one knife, one cutlass and one mobile phone.
In a related development, on October 5, 2026, at about 0045hrs, operatives of the Quick Response Squad (QRS), acting on credible intelligence on the activities of a suspected cult (Black Axe confraternity) in Kokori Community, Ethiope East LGA, stormed the venue of their meeting along Ekrakra Road, Kokori.
Upon sighting the operatives of the QRS, they fled in different directions, but three suspects, Uzubu Ufuoma, 33; Solomon Ovie, 27; and Remember Emuere, 31, were apprehended.
During the investigation, the suspects led operatives of the QRS to an abandoned building at Okodjerhe Village, Kokori, where one automatic pump-action gun allegedly belonging to the group was recovered. The suspects are in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other fleeing members of the group.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, psc, mnips, warned criminal elements, particularly kidnappers, armed robbers and cultists, that the command will continue to identify their hideouts, disrupt their activities and bring them to justice. He further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly provide the Police with credible information on suspicious persons and activities within their communities.
