Delta APC Crisis: Macaulay Calls For Calm

By Matthias Ogbagah

As the move to suspend the Delta State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Elder Omene Sobotie, gathers momentum, the former Secretary to Delta State Government, Comrade Ovuozourie Samuel Macaulay, consults Elders and Leaders of APC, calls for calm.
Macaulay made the call in a statement issued to newsmen in Asaba, the State Capital, on Saturday while reacting to the current crisis rocking the party in the State.

He noted that the party could not afford to be divided at this critical point in time when all Leaders of the party needed to come together and build the party for a formidable opposition.

Macaulay, who is also a Chieftain of the party in Delta State, acknowledged that those picking holes with Elder Sobotie’s management style are entitled to do so but pleaded that all misunderstandings should be resolved internally.
While reminding leaders of the party that Elder Sobotie’s leadership has a short time left to go, he emphasized that there is no need for crisis as that would not guarantee a smooth transition.

He said: “Anything contrary to the smooth running of our party towards the remaining months on conducting Congress will not be good enough for our party. Any dislocation will cause an infraction that will result in several unknown issues that the party may not be able to come out of.

“I am therefore appealing to all party leaders and party faithful to remain calm and sheath their swords and give the reconciliation mechanisms of the party a chance,” Macaulay advised.
