DETERMINED to end the political crisis bedeviled the South-South region of Nigeria, the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has called on all parties and actors in the State to embrace the ‘Attah-led Peace and Reconciliation Committee’.
It would be recalled that PANDEF at its Special Assembly held in Port Harcourt recently, set up a 5-man peace and reconciliation committee to look into crises in the region and provide a lasting solution to the rift between the incumbent Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Siminalayi Fubara and the minister of federal capital territory, His Excellency Nyesom Wike.
PANDEF in a press statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary & Spokesman, Chief Dr Obiuwevbi Christopher Ominimini observed with dismay the last court ruling on the crisis rocking the state leading to the withdrawal of fund allocation to the state, adding that the stance of the court will bring untold hardship, suffering and pains to the mass majority of the people of Rivers state who are not direct or indirect parties to this crises.
While urging all parties involved in the crises to exercise restraints and embrace the peace and reconciliation committee, PANDEF assured of the committee’s commitments to bring lasting solutions to the crises that have undermined the peace and progress of the region emphasising the importance of overall development of the region at large because crises anywhere are crises everywhere.
