UGHELLI – The Chairman of the Global Initiative Support Group for Sheriff 2027, Olorogun Josiah Ntekume, has said that the group was established to mobilise support for the continuity of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration beyond 2027, citing the governor’s developmental achievements across Delta State.

Speaking during a press interview with selected journalists, Ntekume described Governor Oborevwori’s leadership as transformational and performance-driven, noting that the support group was formed after a careful assessment of the administration’s record in office.
According to him, the group’s primary objective is to galvanise support for the governor across the 25 local government areas of the state and among Deltans in the diaspora.
He explained that the organisation aims to promote the achievements of the Oborevwori administration, encourage greater citizen participation in governance, foster unity among the state’s ethnic nationalities, and build a grassroots movement that would sustain development and stability in Delta State.

Ntekume said the group’s slogan, “Together for Ukodo 2027,” represents a call for unity, inclusiveness, and shared prosperity among Deltans. He noted that the slogan reflects the governor’s commitment to equitable development and the delivery of projects across various communities in the state.
“Ukodo symbolises togetherness and collective enjoyment. We believe Deltans will embrace the message because they can see the impact of governance through roads, schools, healthcare facilities, and economic opportunities reaching their communities,” he said.
The support group chairman further disclosed that the organisation has established a strong grassroots network across Delta’s three senatorial districts, with members drawn from youths, women, professionals, artisans, and Deltans living abroad.
Assessing the political climate in the state, Ntekume said Delta politics is increasingly being shaped by performance, inclusiveness, and strategic alliances rather than ethnic or sectional considerations.
He maintained that Deltans are becoming more focused on leaders who can deliver tangible results, adding that Governor Oborevwori’s visible projects and policies have strengthened his political standing.
Giving his assessment of the governor’s three years in office, Ntekume described the administration’s performance as impressive, pointing to achievements recorded under the MORE Agenda.
He highlighted infrastructure development, road construction, improvements in education and healthcare, promotion of peace and security, and economic growth as some of the administration’s notable accomplishments.
While commending the governor’s performance, he urged the administration to intensify youth empowerment programmes, create more employment opportunities, expand support for small and medium-scale enterprises, deepen agricultural development, and strengthen social welfare initiatives.
Ntekume also stressed the importance of continued community engagement and the timely completion of ongoing projects to further boost public confidence in the administration.
Commenting on the opposition parties in the state, he acknowledged their role in strengthening democracy through constructive criticism and accountability, but argued that the opposition currently lacks a cohesive agenda capable of matching the achievements of the present administration.
He expressed confidence that Deltans would make informed choices ahead of the 2027 governorship election by evaluating candidates based on performance, credibility, and vision.
According to him, if the current pace of development, peace, and inclusive governance is sustained, Governor Oborevwori would enjoy overwhelming support from the people of Delta State in 2027.
Ntekume reiterated the group’s commitment to promoting what he described as purposeful leadership and ensuring that the gains achieved under the Oborevwori administration are consolidated for the continued progress of the state.
