UGHELLI – The Executive chairman of Ughelli North local government area, Olorogun (Barr.) Jaro Egbo has charged the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Ughelli Area Command to arrest and prosecute illicit trafficking and drug dealers in the council area.

Egbo handed down the charges during the flag-off of the United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Ughelli, the administrative headquarters of Ughelli North local government area, with the theme, “Breaking The Chains: Prevention, Treatment, And Recovery For All”.
While urging NDLEA operatives to go into all the nooks and crannies of the council area to fetch out all illicit traffickers, drug barons, and drug abuse, he disclosed that the council has organized seminars and workshops against hard drugs, drug abuse, and illicit trafficking in the council area.

Egbo, who was represented by his chief of staff, Olorogun Elvis Oharisi, threatened the big rod of law on anyone found selling and buying illicit drugs within the council area.

Speaking to newsmen at his palace, the monarch of the ancient great Ughelli kingdom, HRM Evang. (Dr.) Wilson Ojakovo, Oharisi III JP++ warned illicit drug dealers from destroying their children, wooed NDLEA to go hard on illicit drug dealers and raid their hideouts.

“Stop selling hard and illicit drugs to our children, it will destroy their lives. NDLEA operatives should act fast, locate illicit trafficking and drug dealers in the society, raid and prosecute them”.
Earlier, the Area Commander, Ughelli Area Command of NDLEA, Mr. Patrick Morah, disclosed that since his inception in office, the operatives of NDLEA have made remarkable achievements in their areas of mandate.

According to him, a lot of sensitization has been carried out in many schools in Ughelli, Patani, and Bomadi on the danger of drug abuse.
“What we are trying to do is to stop them from tasting the drugs because the first stage of drug abuse is experimentation, so if you allow these students to test the drugs and get used to it, you can not stop them again.

“We have arrested a lot of illicit drug dealers in recent times and they all transferred the headquarters of NDLEA for prosecution, and some of them were convicted”.
