UGHELLI – AHEAD of the 2027 general elections in Delta State, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir. Monday Onyeme said the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori will complete his eight years of two tenure in office based on rotation system in the state.
The Deputy Governor gave the assurance at Oharisi primary school, Ughelli during the formal inauguration of Ughelli north/Ughelli south/Udu federal constituency forum cum reception of defectors from APC.
Onyeme, encouraged the new members to commit fully to the party’s success in future elections, assuring them of equal opportunities alongside long-standing members emphasized that the defectors have the same rights as existing PDP members and called on everyone to collaborate in securing the Ughelli Federal Constituency for the PDP in 2027.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.Emomotimi Guwor avowed that come 2027 no vacancy in Osadebey house saying that the ruling party in the state, People Democratic Party (PDP) will win all the eight local government areas of the state.
“2027 Ughelli South/Ughelli North/Udu federal constituency stand united for PDP and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
“2027 no vacancy in Osadebey house, PDP will win all the eight local government areas of the state”, he declared.
While receiving the defectors who were mainly members of the Delta Political Actualisation Network (DPAN), led by Mr.Rayner Ative Ishaka alongside Alex Idu and his supporters from Orogun all from the main opposition party in the state, APC, the state chairman of PDP, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, expressed enthusiasm about the new members, stating that the PDP is determined to reclaim the Federal Constituency in the upcoming 2027 elections.
HE encouraged the defectors to work diligently towards the party’s success and praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the extensive construction projects throughout the state.
While giving reasons for their decision to join forces with PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections, Ishaka said their decision to join the ruling party was not mastermind by man but as a result of divine inspiration.
He cited lack of leadership and direction as reasons for their departure from the APC.
“In 2019, we fought valiantly with our candidate, Chief Great OvedjeOgboru, without success, in 2023 with Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, losing to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. This time, we won’t be misled; we have found clarity,
and we are determined to ensure victory for all PDP candidates in the Federal Constituency in 2027.”
He also remarked on the disarray within the APC, stating, “The APC lacks direction and focus needed to win elections in Delta State. They are caught up in internal conflicts, while I see a united PDP ready to reclaim its winning path.”
Earlier, the newly inaugurated chairman of Ughelli north/Ughelli south/Udu federal constituency, chief John Oguma avowed that what happened in 2023 general election will not happen again.
The highlight of the ceremony was pass of vote of absolute confidence on the State governor by Ughelli north/Ughelli south/Udu federal constituency.
The motion for the vote of absolute confidence was moved by Hon. Oghenerume Ruben Izeze and seconded by Hon. Jaro Egbo the executive chairman of Ughelli north council.
