BENIN – Wide jubilation in Edo State as the newly sworn in governor of the state, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo approved the immediate reinstatement of all staff of the state owned university, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma who were unlawfully disengaged from the service of the institution by the defunct Special Intervention Team (S.I.T.) in March, 2023 under the administration of former Governor Godwin Obaseki

It would be recalled that the staff, who were members of the Academic Staff Union of the University, were unjustly relieved of their appointment following the agitation by the staff of the institution for the payment of their outstanding salaries and other entitlements owed them by the administration of the former governor, Godwin Obaseki.

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government and made available to The Rainbow Newspaper,
Umar Musa Ikhilor, “The governor, Monday Okpebholo, believes in the principle of natural justice, equity, and good conscience, and will therefore not fail to correct any seeming injustice meted out on citizens of Edo State.”

Ikhilor further added that, “The reinstatement is to demonstrate the governor’s commitment and adherence to the rule of law in governance at all times.
