OZORO – Member representing Isoko North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly also a frontline House of Assembly aspirant for Isoko North in the forthcoming 2027 general elections, Hon. (Barr.) Bernard Odior expressed optimism that his return to the house is sure with the overwhelming support of the elders, leaders and stakeholders of APC in Isoko North.

Odior gave the assurance yesterday during an interaction with the members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ughelli Correspondents Chapel at his country home, Ozoro.

Speaking during the interactive session, Hon. Odior who is a lawyer and a long-serving grassroots politician, traced his political journey from his early days as a councillor in the 1990s through various supervisory and advisory roles in local government, to his current position in the Delta State House of Assembly.
He noted that his political career has been anchored on grassroots engagement, continuity of leadership, and consistent service delivery to his constituents.

He emphasised that his core responsibilities in the House of Assembly include lawmaking, representation, and oversight. He disclosed that he has sponsored and supported several bills and motions, particularly in education, health, infrastructure development, and governance reforms.
He also explained his active role in budget oversight, adding that he regularly monitors government projects within Isoko North to ensure compliance with approved budget provisions.

He explained further that he maintains constant engagement with constituents through open office interactions, where he attends to public complaints and requests.
While outlining his constituency development interventions, he outlined several developmental projects facilitated by him, including the renovation of primary schools across Aradere, Owhe, Oyede, and other communities, as well as the provision of classroom furniture to improve learning conditions.
He further noted that he rehabilitated roads across Ozoro and its surrounding communities to improve accessibility and economic activity, added that he has facilitated employment opportunities for youths, with about eight graduates currently on structured employment, and plans to expand the number.
He also highlighted his informal scholarship support for students estimated to over ₦50 million alongside his prompt interventions in the healthcare and skill acquisition training for about 50 beneficiaries.
While expressing a serious concern about the gradual eroding of local languages among young people in the state as a result of overdependence on the borrowed language (English), he disclosed that he has proposed a bill aimed at preserving indigenous languages and cultural identity in Delta State.
He promulgated that indigenous languages be made compulsory subjects in primary and secondary schools across the state, adding that failure to pass such subjects should affect the academic progression of such pupils or student while advocating for the institutionalisation of cultural festivals and competitions to preserve traditions and promote cultural identity among future generations.
Earlier, Odior commended the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his infrastructural developments in Isoko North, particularly the road projects and improvements in the education sector.
He noted that the ongoing road construction projects have significantly improved connectivity between communities in the area.
Reaffirming his commitment to continued service, he said, his legislative agenda remains focused on development, cultural preservation, and youth empowerment.
