*Quarantine one, Seals Lucrativo Eatery
—Vow to sanction any staff found to compromise

UGHELLI – IRKED by the Yellow Fever Pandemic outbreak in the Agbarho community in Ughelli North local government area, Delta State, the Ughelli North council boss, Hon. Jaro Egbo, declared special environmental sanitation in Agbarho, seal Lucrativo Eatery and quarantine one victim.
Addressing newsmen at Agbarho during the exercise, Egbo hinted that the special sanitation exercise is in line with the state governor’s directives as a result of the Yellow Fever outbreak in Agbarho.
Egbo disclosed further that the government of the state and Ughelli North council area observed with dismay the news of the Yellow Fever pandemic in the council area.
According to him, one person was affected by the outbreak and has since been quarantined in a specialist hospital, Irua, in Edo State, to avoid spreading the symptoms in the council and the state at large.
“One person was affected by Yellow Fever, and you know yellow fever is a very dangerous sickness, so the Ministry of Health and Environment directed that we clean up Agbarho town to avoid spreading it to other residents of Agbarho.
“Today we sealed up an eatery (Lucrativo Eatery) in Agbarho for contravening all sanitary laws by channeling their waste and water from their septic thanks to the public drainage thereby giving room for mosquitoes to breed and hatch their eggs, and also we carried out fumigation of some prone areas in the town as the affected patient has since then quarantine in a specialist hospital, Irua in Edo State”.
While responding to various allegations about the Department of Health and Environment of the council bothering on a high level of connivance and compromise to sabotage the environmental and health law of the council, the council vowed to sanction any staff found compromising their duties and laid down laws of environmental and health of the state.
He urged residents of Agbarho to imbibe the culture of cleanliness all the time.
Meanwhile, some of the residents who spoke to journalists in the condition of anonymously for fear of attack from the staff of the Department of Environment and Health Department alleged that some staff of the Environment and Health Department collect money from the residents and turn blind eyes to them.
