UGHELLI – The Delta State Commandant of Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Comrade Monday Ohwesiri, on Thursday, January 30, 202,5, at Ughelli sworn-in Olorogun Eseoghene Omosehwofa as Ughelli North LGA Vigilante Group Nigeria (VGN) Commandant amidst fanfare.
Ohwesiri charged the newly sworn-in LGA Vigilante Commandant to bring his wealth of experience in security to the fore.
“Today we are gathered to swearing-in the Ughelli North LGA Commandant of Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) who shall oversee the activities and welfare of the members.
“In line with the mandate of VGN, each local government areas of the state are entitled to a Commandant who shall be their leader”.
In his acceptance speech, the newly sworn-in Commandant said security is everyone’s business.
“We are all aware that security is everyone’s business; therefore, we need synergy from all stakeholders from all the seven kingdoms of Ughelli North local government area.
“I am using this opportunity to call on all President Generals of all kingdoms, community heads, and residents of our communities to assist in the fight against insecurity and give early information to curb our community’s security threats.
“My office will work in synergy with the Nigeria police and other sister security agencies within the confer of the law to ensure the rights of individuals are protected, and our communities are safe.”
While soliciting the cooperation of the entire Vigilante members to enable the management team to succeed in piloting the affairs of the security of the council area, which will culminate in the achievement of the objective of fostering security, unity, peace, Love, growth, and development of our respective kingdoms/communities.
“The co-operation could be by way of pieces of useful advice and constructive criticism. This is because no one is an island or reservoir of knowledge and “a tree does not make a forest”.
He thanked the national leadership of VGN led by Usman Muhammad Jahun (Commander General), Delta State leaders led by Comrade Monday Ohwesiri, and all members of Vigilante Coy members in the state.
“I am indeed happy to have been considered worthy to occupy this exalted position as the Commander of Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) Ughelli North Local Government Area Delta State.
“My special thanks go to the national and state commandants of VGN, state executive members, and Ughelli North LGA members for considering me worthy of being the Ughelli North LGA Commander. I am highly elated”.
