Jubilation In Ughelli As Egbo Gives Traders, Businessmen Six Months Window Of Grace To Leave Restricted Areas

UGHELLI – There was wild jubilation in Ughelli, Delta State, on Wednesday, December 5, 2024, as the executive chairman of Ughelli North Council area, Hon. Barr. Jaro Egbo gave a six-month window of grace to affected traders and businessmen at Ughelli main market in last Saturday’s environmental sanitation exercise.
It would be recalled that the council boss, during the last monthly environmental sanitation, demolished all illegal structures, makeshift structures, and extensions along roads, walkways, and medians at Otovwodo market and Ughelli main market.
Addressing the mammoth crowd of traders, businessmen, and women at Ughelli’s main market on December 5, 2024, he said the Delta State government is passionate about their welfare.
“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori does not want any of you to suffer, he wants to reclamation the side of the foodstuff market used by some persons as a dustbin and build more stalls to accommodate more traders.
“The ongoing construction of open and knock-up stalls at the GRA will soon be completed and allotted to affected persons evicted from the walkways, roads, and medians during the last environmental exercise.
“Group yourselves according to what you are selling/trading on and let your leader forward the names to me for immediate action”.
Earlier, Egbo declared the market closed from 7.00 am to 12 noon as victims of the last communal clash between the Ekiugbo and Ihwreko communities will be buried tomorrow, December 6, 2024.
Speaking to newsmen, a landlord at the GRA juncture by National, Mr. Peter Eferhievwe, commended the council boss’s pragmatic approach to make Ughelli north council area epicenter to other council areas of the state.
He appealed to the affected persons/traders to comply and join the council boss in his quest to make the Ughelli North council area the bride of the state.
