Lagbaja exuded a rare placid mien of a great sense of professional diligence, deep understanding, and loyalty to the Nigerian state.
“General Taoreed Lagbaja was an embodiment of professional aptitude, National solidarity, and loyalty and showed great understanding of the task of statesmanship.
“He represented all the positives in the annals of the Nigerian Army with spartan self-discipline. He was a man of interpersonal relationships, more so with the civil society. Under him, the Nigerian Army maintains a high sense of relationship with the Nigerian public.
“Nigeria has lost a major pillar of professional excellence. May God grant him eternal rest and also give the family and the Nation the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
It would be recalled that the late COAS was an instructor at the Nigerian Defence Academy from 2001 to 2004. At a time, Lagbaja was a Grade 2 Staff Officer in charge of peacekeeping at the Army Headquarters Department of Army Training and Operations. He was a Directing Staff at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaj, from 2006 to 2009.
