UGHELLI – COMMITTED to rebrand Ughelli north council as encapsulated in his visions for the council area, the executive chairman of Ughelli north local government area, Delta State, Hon. Jaro Egbo on Monday stormed Ughelli main market with his team, declared total war on those abandoned their stores and trading on the walkway and road.
While taking tour round the foodstuff market of the main market, he expressed his dissatisfactions on the management of the market and traders at the food stuff market for kept the environment dirty.
He noted that some of the traders has up to three lockup stores in the market but they turn them to dustbin or park-up stores and chose to trade along the roads and walkways.
While threaten the stern actions of the council area on those abandoned stores allotted to them by the council, he said, if they failed to return and adhere to government instructions government will revoke the stores.
“We advise them to leave the roadside to their stores or else government will revoke their stores and allot them to another person(s).
” We give them from now till September 15, 2024 for them to leave the walkways and roadsides if they don’t want the wrath of government.
“We will build fifty (50) unit of lockup stores to the existing stores in Ughelli food stuff market this will reduce the traffic jam at the market area”.
Egbo warned association of goat sellers and other livestocks dealers to stop henceforth from bring their livestocks to the roadside to sell.
While expressing his dissatisfaction on the management of the market, he condemned the nonchallanted attitude of those saddle with responsibility of keeping the market neat and healthy.
The peak of the tour was the inspection of the ongoing work at the council temporary market at the council GRA and opening of government drain behind First Baptist church, Ughelli for ease flow of water.
