Chief Egbenana sworn in as President General Oteri Community, woo for cooperation from indigenes

UGHELLI- The newly elected president general of the Oteri-Ughelli community in Ughelli north local government area Delta State was sworn in by the president general of Ughelli Descendants Union (UDU), Chief Samuel Akpemuge, amidst fanfare.

LWhile performing the swearing-in ceremony at the Itive hall, Akpemuge charged the newly sworn-in PG and his executive members to always listen to the people he leads, and he should lead by example

According to him, leadership entails a lot of challenges, but in the eyes of the challenges, they should stand firm to develop the community beyond the state he meant, adding that the Oteri-Ughelli community plays a pivotal role in the annal of the Ughelli kingdom.
Meanwhile, the outgone president general of the community, Hon. Peter Efe Erakpofoke Odibo, ake p advised the newly sworn-in president general, Chief Simon Egbenana, to always listen to the advice of the elders and the youths if he must succeed in his government.
” He should not respond to issues immediately; he should think and consult first before making decisions; in the Oteri community, if you are a leader, you must learn how to listen to those you are leading.
” Don’t argue with them too much. Learn to let certain things go so that you don’t put the community on the path of war.
“Embraced those contests with you, make peace with everyone, treat all equally for the interest of peace and development of the community,” he advised.
Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after his swearing-in, Chief Egbenana outlined his agenda for the community, saying security tops his agenda just as he promised to collaborate with the Nigeria police and other sister security agencies to fight crime in the community.
“I will work tirelessly for the community’s prosperity, I will prioritize education, infrastructure development, and economic empowerment.

He enjoined everyone to support him to develop the community and him accountable.

Meanwhile, the returning officer, Mr. Endurance Tettey, has adjudged the election as the fairest election in the community in recent times.
