APC Ughelli North Boots Out Chairman, Onabedje, Installs Evwighono As Acting Chairman

UGHELLI – The crisis rocking the Ughelli North chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) took a different dimension as the party booted out its chairman, Mr. Obakpororo Onabedje, and its secretary, Barr. Beauty Ugbgun-Nze and its organizing secretary, Mr. Henry Ophori, passed a valid vote of no confidence on them.

Briefing journalists at Ughelli Garden Hotel, the Acting chairman APC, Ughelli North, Mr. Samuel Evwighono, alongside other acting executive members, said the trio of the chairman, Mr. Obakpororo Onabedje, the secretary, Barr. Beauty Ugbogun-Nze and the organizing secretary, Mr. Henry Ophori, were suspended from office during the emergency meeting of the APC held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the party secretariat for their hard-heartedness and anti-party activities.

According to him, their suspension & replacement are in accordance with the APC’s Constitution.

The resolution of the emergency meeting of the APC Ughelli North held on October 4, 2024, signed by Mr. Samuel Evwighono Acting Chairman, Ms. Juliet Oduma and Acting Secretary read:

Whereas an emergency meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ughelli North Chapter was held at the APC Party Secretariat, Ughelli to deliberate on the state of the party in the local Government Area.

Since a quorum was formed in accordance with the APC Constitution, the following resolution was reached after careful deliberation. IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:(a) That the Chairman, Secretary, and Organizing Secretary, respectively, frustrated all attempts to call Party meetings, both the working committee and the Executive Committees, since June 2023, as against the provisions of Article 21(2) & (3) of the APC Constitution, have failed to respond to the 7-day notice of complaint against them. (b) That the Chairman, Secretary, and Organizing Secretary have been involved in anti-party activities of organizing rallies where the State Party Leader and the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori was abused and excoriated, thereby demarketing our great party, the APC, against the clear provision of the Party Constitution. (c) Engaging in anti-party activities by openly romancing and holding meetings and funding the activities of the opposition All Democratic Congress(ADC) and bringing to public opprobrium the leaders and members of our great party. (d) Causing division and festering disunity by refusing to accord recognition to new members of the party who defected to the party with His Excellency Rt. Hon Sheriff F.O Oborevwori, thereby disobeying the clear instruction of our National Leader and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, based ON THE ABOVE infractions of the APC and the CONSTITUTION:Mr. Obakpororo Onobaedje (Chairman), Barr Beauty Ubogun-Nze (Secretary), and Mr. Henry Ophori (Organizing Secretary) be and hereby suspended from office in accordance with Article 21(1) (2) & (3) of the APC Constitution (As Amended 2022). (i). That Mr. Samuel Evwighono is appointed as Acting Chairman(ii). That Ms Juliet Oduma is appointed as Acting Secretary(iii). That Mr. Daniel Osiebe is appointed as Organizing SecretaryPending ratification by the State Working Committee and State Executive Committee. Earlier, they passed a vote of confidence on the duo of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the Renewed Hope For More Agenda.
