BURUTU – The Executive chairman of Burutu local government area, Delta State, Chief Hon. (Dr.) Julius E. Takeme has pleaded with the state and federal government to construct access roads and bridges to ameliorate the suffering of the Burutu people.

Hon. Takeme made the call in his office while receiving the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on community newspaper, Prince Joseph Orhomonopaye, who paid a project tour visit to him in his office on Wednesday.

While calling on the federal and state government to come to their aid, he noted that the Burutu council is one of the oldest and largest local government councils among the seven hundred and seventy-four local government areas of Nigeria.

He lamented that despite the huge contribution to the country’s economy, the Burutu council remains the only council area in the country that has no access roads, bridges, electricity power supply, or portable water.
Burutu council area hosts most of the multinational oil companies that operate in the country, yet the council area is abandoned by successive governments at the center.

While calling on the Delta State government led by Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to connect the council area to the national grid, he lamented the high cost of governance of the Burutu council area.
Earlier, the Hon. Takeme, in company of his executive members, took the SSA to the Governor on the community Newspaper, Prince Orhomonopaye, and his team to some of the completed and ongoing projects embarked upon by him.

Speaking to newsmen at the ongoing new ultramodern administrative block of the council, the leader of the Burutu legislative army, Rt. Hon. Edafe Okereke lauded the Burutu council boss for being pragmatic to the yearnings of the people of the Burutu council area, describing him as a leader par excellence.
