Ughelli North Council Celebrates Festival Of Nine Lesson Carols, Call For Unity, Peace

UGHELLI – The Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Olorogun Jaro Omovudu Egbo, has called for unity and coexistence among residents of Ughelli North Council Area as essential tools for sustainable development.

Egbo made a call during the council’s festive nine-lesson carols service held at the council secretariat’s hall with the theme: “Wonders of His Glorious Birth” Text: Luke 2:7-14.
In his address, the chairman noted that the celebration was not only to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ but to renew our faith in Christ Jesus and to strengthen communal bonds among residents.

He urged residents of Ughelli North to live in harmony with one another, regardless of their religious, ethnic, or political differences.
He disclosed that the ongoing Ultra-Modern Council Secretariat Complex construction would be completed by 2026 to mark his second anniversary in office.
He described the commissioning of the modern Children’s Cottage Hospital as part of his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
Hw reaffairmed his administration’s resolve to prioritise staff welfare, stressing that workers’ wellbeing remains central to effective service delivery within the council.
In his homily, the Guest Speaker, Ven. T. O. Osikoro Paul, PhD, charged all Christians to emulate Christ-like lives in all their doings.
He emphasized that the celebration of Christ’s birth should go beyond merrymaking to embody love, humility, generosity, and service to humanity.
Ven. Osikoro Paul urged believers to be good ambassadors of Christ by showing compassion to the less privileged, promoting peace, and being shining examples in their communities.
According to him, the world will experience genuine transformation when Christians practice the values Christ lived and taught.
He reminded the audience that Christmas is a season of giving, sacrifice, and reconciliation, calling on residents to use the period to mend broken relationships and extend kindness to all.

The peak of the event was the presentation of awards to deserving staff members of the council who have distinguished themselves in various areas in their offices.
