Delta CP-SAT Arrest Kidnappers of Ughelli Pharmacist, “One Chance Syndicate” Robbers

*Recovered two locally made guns, sixteen stolen phones, Tricycle

UGHELLI – The operatives of the Delta State Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT)
Led by ASP Julius Robinson, a crackdown on the kidnappers responsible for the kidnappings of a Pharmacist in Ughelli, “one-chance” Armed Robbery Syndicate members terrorising Ughelli, Warri, Agbarho, Sapele, and their environs.
According to a press release signed by Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Sp Edafe Bright and made available to Rainbow Newspaper, the Delta State Commissioner of police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda ordered immediate transfer of a kidnapping reported at Isiokolo Police station where one suspect was initially arrested to the operatives of the CP special assignment team alongside one suspect named Augustine Ojanuware.

Upon a discreet investigation, the suspect confessed that he is a member of a kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate terrorising Ughelli Warri, Agbarho, Sapele, and their environs.

The statement stated further that on June 28, 2025, the suspect led the operatives to Osubi in Okpe local government Area, Warri and Ughelli town, and two additional suspects, Precious Urhobowin age twenty-seven years of Ewu community in Ughelli South local area, and one Julius Okpako thirty-two years a native of Oviri-Ogor community in Ughelli North local government area whose POS machine is used in collecting ransom from their suspected victims, and a locally made gun with eight (8) rounds of live cartridges was recovered from them.

The press release discloses further that a preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects were responsible for the kidnapping of a Pharmacist in Ughelli on June 19, 2025, in her residence, and she was released five days after payment of an undisclosed sum of money, and they abandoned her Lexus Jeep along the Isiokolo axis road.

The suspects confess to the failed attempted kidnapping of a male victim at Iyede community on April 28, 2025, but robbed his Toyota Corolla car.

In a related development, the operatives of CP-SAT on June 28 and 29, 2025 followed a series of complaints received from members of the public in Ughelli bothering on syndicates that specialise in robbing unsuspecting passengers who boarded their commercial tricycles, The operatives stormed their hideout in Agbarho town and effected the arrest of one Mr. Lucky Oghenerobor 37 years a native of Olomoro community in Isoko South LGA of Delta State but residing in Agbarho town who is the leader and owner of their operational tricycle.

Other suspects arrested within Ughelli town, namely, are: Olamide Fagbaibe, 24 years, a native of Akure in Ondo State, and Umeh Akpan, 37 years, a native of Eket in Akwa-Ibom State, both residents in Ughelli town.

The suspects confessed that they usually carry out their operations in Ughelli, Warri, Sapele, and their environs. Recovered from them are sixteen (16) different kinds of suspected stolen phones.

The commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, reiterated that the command remains committed to the fight against crime and criminality and therefore calls on residents and the good people of Delta State to always volunteer information that will aid the Police in crime fighting.
