Chief Akpos Commends Oborevwori, Okowa Defection To APC

*Says deflection to APC is anchored on governance, not politics

WARRI – The Executive Assistant to Delta State Governor on Oil and Gas matters, Chief Edafevwotu Akpos, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the immediate past governor of Delta State, Sen. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, for deflect to the ruling party at the center, the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Akpos, who is ex-chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketer Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), while speaking to journalists in Ughelli, the administrative headquarters of Ughelli north local government area, described the defection of the Governor from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP to the APC as a step in the right direction, saying it is for the interest of all Deltans and is anchored on governance, not politics.

While defending the recent political realignment that saw key members of the administration, including lawmakers and political appointees, defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), he said it is a strategic move in the best interest of governance and development in the state.

Akpos dismissed notions that the movement was born out of weakness, saying the PDP was still strong in Delta when the decision to move was taken.

According to him, Governor Sheriff has performed far beyond expectations, he woos Deltans to come together to support the Governor to succeed till 2031.
