UGHELLI – AHEAD of the country’s 2027 general elections, a chieftain of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Ughelli North council area, Dr. Olotu Akpodiete, has assured all PDP faithful across the 25 local government areas of the state of PDP taking over of Osadebay house.

Akpodiete gave the assurance in Ughelli during a Leadership and Empowerment Summit for PDP women of Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu (U3) federal constituency with the theme, “U3 WOMEN EMPOWERMENT AND LEADERSHIP SUMMIT” held in Otor-Ihwreko town hall, Ughelli.

In his welcome address, he said the essence of the summit is to gather women in Ughelli U3 and to build and strengthen the unit of our party, PDP, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Our party, People Democratic Party (PDP) was hit with the threat of defection in April as the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the party executive members at the state and local government level defected to the then main opposition party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, without any reason.

“People thought PDP was dead in Delta State, but today, PDP is alive and ready to take over the government house in Asaba, 2027”.

He urged all PDP faithful across the country, especially Deltans, to keep hope alive, assuring that PDP will come back to power in Delta State and in the national assembly.

Meanwhile, the chairman of PDP Ughelli North, Hon.Daniel Emaye has urged all PDP women to refrain from accommodating rumours and bad comments insinuating that PDP is dead in Delta State.

“I want to assure you, PDP is not dead in Delta State, nor at the national level. PDP is alive, and we are coming back very strong in the 2027 election”.

Speaking on behalf of the U3 women, the LGA woman leader of Udu PDP, Mrs. Godspower Kigho Okiemute, appeals to all PDP women to stand firm to rescue power from APC in 2027.

The highlights of the summit were the empowerment of over 30 U3 PDP women with gift items by the convener of the summit, Dr. Olotu Akpodiete, under the umbrella of OERA Foundation.

Earlier, the chairman of PDP Udu LGA, Comrade Keniare Aghogho, in his welcome address, commended Dr. Akpodiete for his love and efforts in putting up such an event, bringing together the grassroots members.

He said the summit will encourage the women to remain steadfast in the party amid the defection of those whom they once supported but defected in April 2025.
