BENIN – Engr. Saliu Ahmed, the former Managing Director of the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORDA), has achieved a significant milestone by being elected as the President of the Auchi Development Foundation (ADF).
His election took place on Sunday, June 29, during the extraordinary Annual General Meeting of the organisation.
Engr. Ahmed succeeds Prince (Dr.) Nasiru Ikharo, the immediate past President, recently completed his four-year term.
The ADF serves as the think tank for various socio-political and socio-cultural associations in the historic Auchi kingdom and has been instrumental in promoting concerted development within the community.
In the past four years, the ADF has facilitated significant projects, including the establishment of a Nigerian Immigration Service passport office in Auchi. This initiative aimed to alleviate the challenges faced by residents who previously had to travel to Benin, Lagos, or Abuja to process their travel documents.
Additionally, the ADF played a crucial role in the construction of the Auchi Library, as well as providing security support, voter education, and community mobilisation efforts.
Engr. Ahmed has a strong background in community leadership. His dedication to community development earned him a chieftaincy title, Sadiq of Auchi kingdom.
He is recognised as one of the most visible and committed professionals in Auchi and has served the community in various capacities throughout his career.
Engr. Ahmed was elected alongside several other prominent Auchi citizens to lead the ADF.
The elected officials are: Bar Rehimetu Jimoh (Vice President), Dr. Umaru Shafiq (General Secretary), Mr. Mamudu Usman (Assistant General Secretary), Mr. Oseni Abiri (Financial Secretary), Mr. Dauda Momodu (Treasurer), Chief Rahmat Oviesa (Social Secretary), Mr. Hassan Seghosime (Publicity Secretary), Bar Uzeru Audu (Legal Adviser), and Prof. Saidu Kadiri (Internal Auditor).
These distinguished individuals are expected to guide the affairs of the ADF for a four-year term.
