The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ughelli North, Ughelli South & Udu Federal Constituency has marked a new chapter in its history with a series of political events that signal the party’s rebirth and renewed commitment to reclaiming its lost glory.
The events, which included the U3 Youth Empowerment and Leadership Summit, the inauguration of the PDP U3 Media Ambassadors, the PDP U3 LGA Executive members Empowerment Summit, the inauguration of the U3 Legislators Forum, and the empowerment of PDP women leaders by the Olotu and Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete Foundation, demonstrated the party’s determination to win back the federal constituency in 2027.
These strategic initiatives have not only galvanized the party’s base but also sent a strong message to the opposition that the PDP is alive, vibrant, and ready to reclaim its lost glory. By empowering women, youths, and leaders Dr. Akpodiete has demonstrated a clear vision for the party’s future, one that is inclusive, dynamic, and people-centric.
The events took place at Otor-Ihwreko Town hall in Ughelli North, Civic center Otor-jeremi in Ughelli South and PDP Secretariat Otor-Udu in Udu LGA, attended by notable PDP members including chairmen and executive members of the three LGAs, showcased the party’s unity and purpose.
It would be recall that the initiator and convener of the trainings and empowerments, Dr. Olotu Otemu Akpodiete JP who was a former House of Representatives aspirant emphasized the party’s commitment to reclaiming its lost mandate and urged members to work together towards the 2027 elections.
The U3 Youth Empowerment and Leadership Summit saw youths from across the constituency pledge their support for Dr. Akpodiete as the party’s sole representative candidate for the 2027 elections as Hon.Stephen Ashiemuke, Ughelli South LGA Youth Leader appreciated the Convener and moved a motion for a vote of confidence on Hon. Dr. Olotu Akpodiete JP and seconded by Engr.Benedict Onovughakpor, Ughelli North LGA Youth leader.
The youths were empowered and appreciated for their commitment to the party, and Dr. Akpodiete urged them to work together as a team in preparation for the elections and PDP would produce a youthful governorship candidate to reclaim power 2027.
The inauguration of the U3 Media Ambassadors marked a significant milestone in the party’s efforts to strengthen its communication machinery. By equipping media practitioners with the necessary skills and tools, the party is well-positioned to disseminate its message effectively, counter opposition narratives, and promote its achievements. The media team was charged to be watchdogs for the masses and to promote the party’s image and activities.
Among the Executivemembers of the U3 Media Ambassadors are Amb.Comrade. Kphoraror Emmanuel, Chairman, Prophet.John Adafan, Vice Chairman, Comrade Temple Eteyeta, Secretary, Mrs Eunice Alu, Publicity Secretary.
The U3 Legislators Forum, which brings together former councilors, has the potential to be a game-changer in the party’s quest to reclaim the federal constituency. By providing a platform for legislators to share ideas, collaborate, and develop strategies, the forum can help drive legislative initiatives that benefit the people and promote the party’s agenda. The forum, led by Hon. Patrick Bodosika, promised to work as a formidable team to win the 2027 elections.
The Olotu and Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete Foundation empowered PDP women leaders with cash, wrappers and gifts in the constituency, demonstrating the party’s commitment to empowering women and promoting their participation in politics. The women were encouraged to spread the party’s good news and to stand firmly with the party in 2027. Dr. Akpodiete emphasized that the program aimed to scale up the welfare of the party and demonstrate its strength.
Among leaders that benefited from the programmed packaged are; Acting Chairmen of PDP Ughelli North, Hon. Daniel Emaye, Acting Chairmen of PDP Ughelli South Olorogun Godwin Akpokemerha and Acting Chairmen of PDP Udu, Comrade Kenairu Johnbull.
Others are; Evang. John Awhin, Hon. Ogheneovo Erhabor, Chief James Shaguolo, Chief Dennis Oboje, Comrade Ochucko Erhiakpore and Mrs. Ufuoma Omoru.
In conclusion, the recent events organized by Hon. Dr. Olotu Akpodiete JP, including the U3 Women and Youth Empowerment and Leadership Summit, U3 Media Ambassadors, U3 Legislators Forum, and U3 Executive Empowerment and Leadership Summit, have injected new life into the PDP in Ughelli North, Ughelli South & Udu Federal Constituency.
