UGHELLI – MIFFED by the long-ago marginalization of the Urhobo ethnic nationality in the schemes of the Federal Government and Oil &Gas exploration companies operating in Urhobolands, the national chairman of Urhobo Oil and Gas Nationality (UROAGAN), Rt. Hon. Christopher Emaye Obiuewvbi Ominimini has, at the weekend, inaugurated the LGAs leaders of UROAGAN.

Performing the inauguration at his Ughelli residence, Ominimini charges the newly inaugurated LGA leaders that cut-across the eight local government areas of Delta central to work closely with their community President Generals and chairmen to ascertain the details of Oil and Gas facilities in their communities and council areas.

Ominimini, who was represented by the second national vice chairman of UROAGAN, Comrade Efe O.Godspower, noted that UROAGAN was birthed in September 2023 to address the long-standing marginalization by oil and gas exploration companies in Urhoboland and to know the quantum of oil and gas produced by the exploration companies daily.

According to him, the Urhobo nation produced most of the oil and gas in Delta State and in the South-South region as a whole, but erroneously ranked in third position in oil and gas production. This is unacceptable.

While calling on government at all levels both at the state and national to look at the plights of the Urhobo nation, he said,
“The Urhobo nation is the largest producer of Oil and Gas in the South-South geopolitical region, and it deserves good recognition, good roads, employment of sons and daughters of the Urhobo nation, and scholarships to the deserving students of the Urhobo nation.

“Urhobo nation deserves federal government presence. We need meaningful employment for our children and empowerment for our women and elders. This is the only way the federal government and overexploitation companies can compensate the people of their operational areas because their farmlands and rivers have been polluted by the activities of the oil exploration companies.

The oat of office was administered by His Worship E. Onoberhie (Mrs) and Barr. Oghogho Nathaniel Usikpedo (Mrs).

Earlier in their separate interview, the national executives and LGA leaders of UROAGAN eulogized its national leader chief Ominimini for of his bravery and pragmatic approach in championing the course of the Urhobo nation.
