*Commend Gov. Oborevwori’s developmental strides

The Executive chairman of Ughelli South local government area, Hon. (Dr) Lucky Avweromre, has promised to sustain the gains of democracy and to build on the legacies of the founding fathers of the country’s nascent Democracy in the council area.
Avweromre gave the assurance during the Democracy Day Celebration at the council secretariat, Otu-Jeremi, Delta State, adding that the sacrifices made for Nigerians’ rights must be duly honoured.
In his Democracy Day goodwill message, he noted that for democracy and civilian rule to have been tenaciously rooted in Nigeria, it took the labours and sacrifices of heroes past who held the bull by the horns, confronting all degrees of obstacles and political strongholds to berth it.
According to him, no other system of government is better than democracy, no matter how it is being polished or adjudged, saying that the government of the people by the people gives everyone a sense of belonging and freedom to choose whom they want. Such a system of government must not be toyed with.
“On this Democracy Day, on behalf of the Executive Team and the Legislative Arm of this great council, may I use this opportunity to celebrate the people of Ughelli South Local Government.
” We relish in your democratic power, your freedom to choose who governs you, and the strength embedded in your unity of purpose.
“On this note, we as Leaders want to reassure you that we will continue to honour the sacrifices made for our democratic rights and ensure the sustenance of building a local government where justice, equity, and unity prevail”.
While congratulating the executive governor of Delta State, H.E. Dr Sheriff Oborevwori on the Democracy Day Celebration, he lauded him on his outstanding developmental strides across the nooks and crannies of the state.
“Governor Oborevwori is a topical example of a Nigerian leader who has distinguished himself as walking and working the fulfillment of dreams of the heroes of democracy in Nigeria”.
