Delta Police Arrests Suspected Cultists, Fraudsters, Recover Beretta Pistol, Live Ammunition, Stolen Car

ASABA – The operatives of the Commissioner of Police of Delta State, CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, nabbed four suspected cultists/fraudsters, recovered one Beretta Pistol with three rounds of live ammunition, and a stolen Lexus 330 Jeep with registration number RBC 656 CN.

In a statement by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the arrests were made on June 29, 2025, when operatives from the CP – Special Assignment Team (CP – SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, acted on credible intelligence and stormed Yoruba Street in Sapele. They arrested one Rasheed Atanda, a 31-year-old native of Irinle community in Kwara State, who resides in Sapele.

Edafe explained that preliminary investigations led the operatives to arrest additional suspects, including Charles Oyowe, a 36-year-old native of Obeda, Warri North LGA of Delta State, from whom a Beretta Pistol with three rounds of live ammunition was recovered; Rewane Ogbitse, a 49-year-old native of Jakpa, Warri South LGA of Delta State; and Shedrack Oloko, a 44-year-old native of Ethiope East LGA of Delta State.

All the suspects confessed to being members of the Eiye confraternity. They are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing.

In a separate operation on June 30, 2025, operatives from CP – SAT recovered a Lexus 330 Jeep that had been reported stolen during an armed robbery.

According to the statement, following a complaint, it was gathered that the suspects, armed with dangerous weapons, invaded a residence early that day, stealing expensive jewelry, mobile phones, and the Lexus 330 Jeep with registration number RBC 656 CN.

After a swift investigation and deployment of intelligence assets, the stolen vehicle was recovered around 6:35 AM on UTI Road, off the DSC Expressway in Ebrumede.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the gang.
