Delta APC In Trouble Waters As Akpodiete, Umurhohwo Gangs To Sink APC In Delta Central

UGHELLI – The ruling party in Delta State, the All Progressives Congress (APC), is engulfed in a battle to survive in the Delta Central senatorial district, a situation political analysts described as “a Political party in a sinking ship,” as Dr. Olotu Akpodiete and Oke Umurhohwo teamed to restore Ughelli/Udu federal constituency to the PDP.


Speaking to the Rainbow Newspaper in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, the House Representative hopeful for the 2027 general elections, Dr. Olotu Akpodiete firmly declared that PDP Delta State is poised to take back the lost glory of the party in Delta State that was mortgaged by the former leaders of the party in the state come 2027 general elections.

Akpodiete, full of enthusiasm and commitment to rescue the ruling political party in the state, said in an interview with Rainbow Newspaper in Abuja that the PDP will take its rightful position in the forthcoming general elections in the country.
According to him, the defection that hit the party in April has nothing to do with the party’s victory in the 2027 elections. The party is now repositioned for a resounding win in every election because the enemies of the party have abandoned the party for the rightful owners.
The House of Representatives aspirant for Ughelli North, South, and Udu federal constituency in the forthcoming general elections said his mission to the Green Chamber is to make laws that will benefit the constituents of U3 federal constituency.
“I will bring good representation to Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu (U3) federal constituency if elected. The constituency has not been well represented in the green chamber; I am going there to bring dividends of democracy to the constituents of Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu (U3) federal constituency.
” We will suffocate and sink APC in Delta central, we have all it takes to take back the legacy and glory of our great party, PDP, in Delta central.
“Our former members who are in political wildernesses, if they can retrace their political footsteps, we will reconsider them for political baptism before readmitting them into the PDP folds in the state”, Akpodiete stated.
Also speaking to Rainbow Newspaper correspondent in Lagos State, the House of Assembly candidate for Ughelli constituency 2 in the 2023 general elections, Mr. Oke Umurhohwo, said the time has come for the constituents of Ughelli constituency to emancipate themselves from their self-imposed political quagmires.
While assuring his supporters and followers of victory in all rounds come 2027, he said, he is coming as a rebrand and is well prepared to take back the stolen mandate of the party in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

It will be recalled that Oke Umurhohwo is a grassroots politician, strategist, and a development-driven advocate from Ughelli North, Delta State. He has been a committed member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for many years and has played active roles at both state and national levels.
According to him, his political journey has always been guided by a clear focus on building inclusive governance, strengthening grassroots participation, and driving sustainable community development.
“I strongly believe leadership should be about representation, fairness, and service that cuts across social and political divides.
“Over the years, I’ve been privileged to serve as a member of various PDP National Convention Planning Subcommittees, contributing to strategy, mobilization, and coordination at key moments in the party’s history.4łthis this ł I have also worked directly with the Goodluck Jonathan and Atiku Abubakar presidential campaigns, and consistently supported PDP candidates across different election cycles, helping to build party structures, mobilize voters, and sustain unity within the fold.
“In 2023, I contested for the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) seat to represent Ughelli North Constituency 2, and I remain committed to that aspiration as we approach 2027. My goal is to champion policies that open up opportunities for youths, improve access to education, strengthen local economies, and bring governance closer to the people.
“Beyond politics, I’ve built a strong professional career; from Marketing Manager (West Africa) at itel Mobile, to Head of Global Marketing at Zap Africa, and now Marketing Director at StarTimes Nigeria. These roles have sharpened my understanding of leadership, communication, and accountability. Values I now bring into my political life.
“Through the Oke Umurhohwo Foundation, I’ve also been involved in youth empowerment, education support, and sports development initiatives that have touched lives across Delta State.
My politics is people-centered, rooted in inclusion, driven by results, and built on a firm belief that development must start from the grassroots up.
