Tension has gripped residents of Jesse Town in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State following the abduction of Mr. Francis Amakare, the in-law to Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State, on Community Newspapers, Prince Joseph Orhomonokpaye.
Mr. Amakare was reportedly kidnapped on Friday, September 26, by unidentified gunmen while returning to his residence.
The kidnappers, who were said to have operated swiftly and without resistance, have since contacted the victim’s family, demanding a ransom of ten million naira for his release.
A source close to the family confirmed the ransom demand, stating that the kidnappers warned against involving security agencies, further heightening the tension around the case.
The Delta State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement, but local security operatives and vigilante groups have launched efforts to track the kidnappers and secure Amakare’s safe return.

The incident has once again raised concerns about the increasing rate of kidnappings in the region, with residents calling on government and security agencies to intensify efforts to curb criminal activities in Delta State.
As of the time of filing this report, negotiations are ongoing, and the victim remains in captivity.
