“This is a congress of unity and consolidation. After a very long time, the South-South zone is coming together under one political party to actualize the aspirations and dreams of the people,” Ahon said.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Delta State, Sir Festus Ahon, has described the just-concluded South-South Zonal Congress of the All Progressives Congress as a historic gathering marked by unity, consolidation, and renewed political strength across the region.
Ahon made the assertion while speaking to journalists after the congress, Ahon said the peaceful conduct of the congress signaled a new chapter of political alignment and cooperation among states in the South-South zone.
He commended governors and party leaders in the region for what he described as their wisdom and foresight in coming together under a common political platform, the APC ahead of future elections.
According to him, the congress represents a significant step toward enhancing the region’s political influence at the national level.
“This is a congress of unity and consolidation. After a very long time, the South-South zone is coming together under one political party to actualize the aspirations and dreams of the people,” Ahon said.
The Governor’s spokesman emphasized that all South-South states are now aligned with the ruling APC at the center, a development he said reflects the strategic importance of the region to Nigeria’s economy and governance.
“As a zone that contributes significantly to the nation’s economy, it is only proper that we align with the government at the center to maximize opportunities for development of the region,” he added.
Ahon also used the opportunity to charge the newly elected zonal executives with sustaining the unity achieved by party leaders. He urged them to promote peace, love, and collaboration to strengthen the party’s chances in the upcoming elections.
“They must work in unity and ensure that peace and harmony prevail. It is only through unity that we can achieve our collective goals and deliver the zone politically,” he stated.
He further highlighted the high level of participation at the congress, noting that governors from across the South-South, the Senate President, as well as members of the House of Representatives, State Assemblies, and other key stakeholders were all in attendance.
According to Ahon, the massive turnout of political heavyweights underscores the growing cohesion within the region and signals a shared commitment to advancing the interests of the South-South under a unified political platform.
