Security Shakeup: Panama Emerged Ughelli Vigilante Chairman, Read Riot Act On Criminals

UGHELLI – After the killings in Ughelli kingdom, the administrative headquarters of Ughelli North local government area, Delta State, there was a major shakeup in the internal security structure of the kingdom.
The monarch of the great ancient kingdom of Ughelli, HRM (Prof) Wilson Ojakovo Oharisi III JP, has recently restructured the kingdom’s security outfit, appointing Comrade Victor Panama as the new chairman of Ughelli Vigilante.
According to the monarch, he decided to initiate a major overhaul of Ughelli vigilante leadership to tackle worsening security threats, to reinvigorate leadership, and reposition the kingdom’s vigilante for greater operational effectiveness.
“It is aimed at strengthening the security structures, improving inter-agency synergy, and sustaining the momentum in the fight against insecurity across the kingdom and Ughelli North as a whole.
“The reshuffle aims to boost operational efficiency against terrorism and banditry. These changes followed rising security challenges and reports of recent killings.
“This major, strategic restructuring is designed to revitalize the Ughelli vigilante body and improve the Ughelli North security as a whole”.
Speaking to journalists shortly after he was appointed as the new chairman of the Ughelli Vigilante Committee, Panama, warned all criminals to stay clear of Ughelli, saying his regime will not compromise the trust and confidence reposed in him by the king and the entire people of the Ughelli kingdom.

“I will sanitize the system, I will make Ughelli too hot for criminals to harbour.
“I appeal to all parents to calm their children and wards to order because I come with ‘Operation No Mercy For Criminals” he stated.
Earlier, he thanked the monarch for counting him worthy to be the chairman of the kingdom’s security outfit, popularly known as “Bakasi”.
Meanwhile, the President General of Ughelli Descendants Union (UDU), Chief Samson Akpimegi, cautioned the new chairman and his team to carry out their duties in a manner that does not infringe on people’s fundamental rights.

The selection cum appointed of comrade Victor Panama was done in the presence of the Nigerian Army (NA), the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), and the leaders of the twenty-three communities of the kingdom.
