UGHELLI – The Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Barr. Jaro Egbo, promised justice for the brutal murder of Prince Idjesa Oharisi, the younger brother of the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, HRM Evang. Wilson Ojakovo Oharisi III JP, the ovie of the great Ughelli kingdom.

“This is a very painful and unfortunate incident for all of us,” Egbo stated. “The death of a prince of the kingdom touches the heart of the entire community, and we share in the grief of His Royal Majesty and the royal family.”
The council chairman emphasized that Ughelli Kingdom is not in conflict with any neighboring community and strongly denounced the rise of violence under the guise of cultism. He issued a stern warning against cult-related activities within the local government, vowing that perpetrators would face decisive legal action.

Addressing widespread rumors, both Egbo and the monarch clarified that no curfew has been declared in Ughelli by the palace, local government, state, or federal authorities.
“There is no curfew in Ughelli, law-abiding residents should go about their legitimate activities without fear,” Egbo asserted.
He cautioned security personnel against harassing innocent citizens under the pretense of enforcing a nonexistent curfew.
Describing Ughelli as a strategic hub linking the South-East, South-South, and South-West regions, Egbo warned against any attempts to undermine the authority and sanctity of the Ughelli royal palace.
He called on parents, community leaders, and ward heads to guide their youths away from violence and cultism, reaffirming the local government’s commitment to peace and justice.
In response, the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom expressed gratitude for the visit, describing it as timely and reassuring.

His words, “I did not declare any curfew in Ughelli. That information is untrue, baseless, misleading, and cheap blackmail by some unscrupulous elements in the society that have caused unnecessary tension among our people,” he stated.
The traditional ruler urged residents and media outlets to rely only on official sources for accurate information as investigations continue.
The murder of Prince Idjesa has heightened concerns over security in the region, with community leaders calling for intensified efforts to curb cult-related violence and ensure the safety of residents.
In a condolence visit to the royal palace on Monday, Egbo described the killing as a “tragic loss” that has deeply pained not only the royal family but the entire Ughelli Kingdom. He condemned the act as a senseless, cold-blooded murder carried out by yet-to-be-identified individuals.
