•Recovers 115 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition, 220 rounds of SMG ammunition, and 32 live cartridges

ASABA – Operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) Delta State, led by ASP Julius Robinson, acting on credible intelligence from the Force Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU), Abuja, have arrested a female suspect, Jamila Abubakar, at Conoil Filling Station, Warri–Patani Road, Effurun, Delta State who is an ammunition peddler.

According to a press release by the Delta State police command Police Public Relations Officer, SP. Upon her arrest, the operatives of the CP-SAT discovered a cash sum of Five Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (₦550,000) neatly concealed beneath her bag, suspected to be proceeds from illicit arms and ammunition transactions.

According to SP Edafe, the arrest of Jamila Abubakar provided a crucial lead that set off a well-coordinated follow-up operation.
The press release further stated that, building on the intelligence gathered, the operatives stormed the Niger-Cat area of Warri, where they successfully arrested a notorious arms dealer, one Ahmed Ibrahim, a 31-year-old male from Ekpan, Uvwie Local Government Area, at about 0725 hours on October 22, 2025.
When their hideout was searched, the operatives recovered a bag containing one hundred and fifteen rounds (115) of 7.63mm AK-47 live ammunition, two hundred and twenty (220) rounds of SMG rifle ammunition, and thirty-two (32) live cartridges.
According to SP Bright Edafe in the press release, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is a key supplier of weapons to bandit groups in the northern part of Nigeria and has long been on the Command’s watch list for his alleged role in several high-profile kidnapping and armed robbery operations.
He was linked to the kidnapping and murder of one Ogheneovo Onemu (female), who was abducted on May 17, 2024, at Adjekota Community, Ughelli North LGA, and later killed despite the payment of a ₦4,000,000 ransom.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, described the breakthrough as another testament to the Command’s unwavering commitment to stemming the flow of illegal arms, dismantling criminal syndicates, and bringing offenders to justice.
He reaffirmed the Command’s determination to identify and neutralise all networks involved in illicit weapons across the State.
CP Olufemi Abaniwonda urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information to aid the fight against crime. He assured the public that the Command will sustain its momentum against criminal elements and remain resolute in protecting the lives and property of all law-abiding citizens.
