UGHELLI – As the march towards the general elections next year progresses, the political temperature in Delta State last weekend heated up at an incredible pace as a solidarity walk for President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege caused panic in some quarters in the state.

It would be recalled that the loyalty of the immediate past Deputy Senate President of the 8th national assembly, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege in their thousands thronged the roads and streets of the ancient city of Ughelli kingdom the administrative headquarters of Ughelli with a solidarity walk for President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege ahead of the 2027 general election.

The Solidarity Walk that began at Otovwodo-Ughelli junction with a solemn procession snowballed into a political tsunami as roads and streets of Ughelli were gridlocked for several hours as market women, traders, and youths came out en masse to join the solidarity walk.
Speaking during the carnival-like solidarity walk, the Executive Director of Niger Delta Basin Authority Development (Engineering Services) also a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Delta State chapter, Engnr. Chuks Erhire disclosed that the solidarity walk is all about liberating the state from its present developmental quagmire.

“The solidarity walk was organised by those who believe and love President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege. Their aim is simply that they believe the duo of the president and the DSP Ovie Omo-Agege has performed credibly enough for the overall development of the state and the country at large.

“Today, young men of like minds, mighty and low, men and women, and youths from all nooks and crannies of Ughelli North came out en masse to tell their leader that they stand by him and President Ahmed Bola Tinubu because they have performed well.

“They came out in numbers saying they are missing their leader, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, because since he left office, there has been a state of arrested development in the state”.
While lamenting the underdevelopment of the state twenty-four years after its creation, he noted that when Delta State was created in 1991, it was created with a lot of potential alongside resources to translate those potentials into something tangible.

According to him, Edo people were crying out for where to get resources to develop their state (Edo State) because the resources used to develop the defunct Bendel State were from the present Delta State, but today Edo State is experiencing developments in every area, while Delta State remains underdeveloped despite its huge mineral resources.
“Four years is too much for Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege to translate Delta State to what it should become.

“They want Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege to step into the governorship race of the state as the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
“The gathering was not a politically motivated, not a political campaign; it is a show of love for President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege.

“This kind of fellowship enjoyed by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege in Ughelli North and across the state is unprecedented and organic; it cannot be bought with money.
“With President Bola Tinubu and Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege in the same ballot box in the coming 2027 general elections, APC will sweep the entire votes in Delta State.
