FLYOVER GROUNDBREAKING: Egbo Woos Ughelli Residents To Come Out En masse To Receive Gov Oborevwori
By Matthias OgbagahUGHELLI – Ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony for the Otovwodo flyover on Monday, January 12, 2026, the executive chairman of the council area, Olorogun (Barr.) Jaro Egbo has urged Ughelli residents to come out en masse to receive the state Governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwo, and his entourage.

Ego made the call during a special sanitation organised by the council chairman ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony of the Otovwodo flyover.
According to him, the reason for the special sanitation exercise was to ensure the environment is clean and conducive to receiving the governor and his esteemed entourage and visitors coming from far and near.

“I am here to supervise the area and to ensure the place is clean, not just the vicinity, but the entire council is clean.
“As you can see, we are walking across from an Effurun-otor junction, we are clearing all the debris around and all the grasses to ensure that the place is fit for our governor, here with me is the Otovwodo community chairman, Mr. Ovigue Ugbarugba, member of the elders forum, Dr. Chris Oharisi, and host of others and they are very cooperative.

“Once we finish clearing we will come back to start setting the stage for the Monday groundbreaking.
“I want to use this opportunity to invite all our people to come en masse and receive our governor and his entourage, he has done very well for us, and all we need is to support him to succeed.
He commended the high level of compliance of Ughelli residents with the special sanitation exercise declared by the council area.

Earlier, Egbo commended the construction firm handling the flyover project for the massive and quality job done within a short time.
“They are doing marvellously well, they are fast, you can see that most of the pillars work has been done, they are working hard to meet the 14 months target they set for themselves against the initial 28 months, okay, later brought it back to 14 months.
“They have already done with the transfer of the electrical polls and all of that, so I hope that the 14-month target is achievable so that we can start using the flyover.

While emphasizing the importance of the flyover to the council area and the country as a whole, he noted that it will reduce the gridlock at the Otovwodo junction.
He further explained that the Flyover is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion in the area, a major hub for commerce and transportation.
His words: “Time is money, and this project will save us valuable time, the Otovwodo junction is a convergence point, those going to the East to the South to the West this is where they connect and right now this is where the city center is we will move the City Center from the Post Office junction to the Otovwodo junction.
“The City Center is going to be here now, this is the epicenter, no longer Post Office Junction. Once the bridge is constructed, we will do some beautification around the place, so this is where the center of the town is.
